The growing use of wind energy is part of a larger shift to reduce emissions by switching to renewable resources. Vertical axis wind turbines (VAWTs) provide higher efficiency in turbulent and/or low speed winds while having smaller design profiles than horizontal axis wind turbines (HAWTs) that make them suitable for use in high density population centers.
